Job Description

To assist the RN by providing direct and indirect patient care as needed. Directly responsible for monitoring the ECG rhythms, blood pressure, and SaO2 monitoring. Monitor technician is responsible for clerical and receptionist functions of the unit which include but are not limited to: answering phone calls and forwarding to appropriate stakeholder, serve as back-up operator while regular operator is on break, and be vigilant in viewing and reviewing monitors for alarms and significant rhythm changes.

Job Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Six months prior experience as a EKG/Cardiac Monitor Tech in a health care environment
  • Completion of a basic arrhythmia course required
  • Unit specific basic arrhythmia testing with a score of 80 or above
  • BLS Required
  • State Certification as a Nurse Aid Preferred
  • Demonstrate competence in patient monitoring by accurate placement of electrodes, admitting/discharging of patients, setting up central monitors, setting up telemetry and printing of data from the cardiac monitors
