Job Description:

Job Overview

The Lead Pharmacy Technician is licensed with the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy, and assists pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, including sterile IV preparations, as well as maintaining the drug inventory and patient billing records.  In addition to these duties, the Lead Pharmacy Technician will assist the director with operational duties and responsibilities, such as managing the technician schedule.  This individual will ensure compliance with clinical and regulatory requirements and assume other duties as assigned.  The Lead Pharmacy Technician works only under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.

Job Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • National Pharmacy Technician Certification required
  • Oklahoma Pharmacy Technician permit, in good standing, required
  • Strong background or interest in oncology pharmacy preferred
  • Five years of work experience in pharmacy, with three or more in a hospital environment, preferred
  • Experience managing inventory
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to interact with a wide variety of individuals and handle several complex situations simultaneously
  • The ability to utilize critical thinking and apply sound assessment and judgment in decision making

Clear understanding of Oklahoma rules, particularly as they relate to technician practice

Lifting/carrying of objects up to 50 lbs or more
